According to North Carolina state court records the number of homeowners on the edge about to lose their homes to bank foreclosure more than doubled in 2009 compared with the previous year.
North Carolina State court’s foreclosure filings rose over 17 percent from 53,960 at the end of 2008 to more than 63,000 through by the end or 2009, and 2008’s total was 8.6 percent higher than 2007’s numbers according to the court data.

“It’s almost 2,000 foreclosure cases alone per judge to handle,” said J. Thomas McGrady, the chief judge of the Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court.

Reports are that the workload of judges who handle all kinds of civil cases in some areas nearly tripled because of the increased number of foreclosures roughly doubling every year for the past three years or so.
